Seeing People As They Are
“I desire mercy not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” Matt. 9:13
When we have compassion for people, we are actually beginning to understand where people are in life. When Jesus went out performing great miracles in Matthew 8 and 9, He was displaying not only great power but great compassion on the people. We show compassion for people when we help them where they are. Wherever we are, we must show compassion, everyone needs to know that they are valued and care for. Where do we learn compassion? We learn from Jesus, “I desire mercy not sacrifice. For I did not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Matthew 9:13). Many times, we think that only people in need are the only people needing our compassion. Compassion should be shown to everyone we encounter in life, we have the greatest example to follow in Jesus!
