True Wisdom
But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peace-loving, gentle, reasonable, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial, free of hypocrisy. (James 3:17)
True wisdom is exhibited in how we behave. James tells us that is purity followed by promoting peace which refers to a person who does not create confusion or dishonor. True wisdom is also gentle, not displaying hatred or bitterness. True wisdom is also displayed by being reasonable or willing to be compliant and teachable. True wisdom is also displayed by showing mercy and concern for others, being forgiving. The term “good fruits” refers to good deeds towards others. True wisdom is displayed by being committed and consistent in a person’s faithfulness to God. Finally, James tells us true wisdom is “without hypocrisy” being genuine, real, not phony or fake. If true wisdom is a part of our life, it will be evident in our behavior. Let us all pray for “true wisdom”!
